Looking for natural henna in Montréal — for a party, a festival, or to practise at home? Not all henna is equal, and some kinds can be genuinely dangerous. Here's what to look for, what to avoid, and where to get safe, ready-to-use henna cones.
What to look for in good henna
Good henna is made from the dried, ground leaves of the Lawsonia inermis plant — nothing else. It should be fresh, smooth enough for fine lines, and it stains your skin orange, deepening to a rich reddish-brown over 24–48 hours.
- All-natural, plant-based ingredients — no chemical dyes
- Fresh: henna loses its staining power as it ages
- A smooth, fine consistency for detailed designs
- A reddish-brown stain that develops over a day or two — never jet black
Avoid "black henna" at all costs
If a product or artist promises a black stain that appears in an hour, avoid it. So-called "black henna" often contains PPD (paraphenylenediamine), a chemical dye that can cause serious burns, blistering, and lifelong allergic reactions. Real, natural henna is never black — it is orange-to-brown, and it takes time to develop.
Cones, paste, or kits — which is easiest?
For most people, a ready-to-use cone is by far the simplest option. It comes pre-mixed and sealed: you just snip the tip and start drawing — no measuring, mixing, or mess. Loose paste and DIY kits give you more control but take preparation and can be hit-or-miss if the recipe isn't right.
Our natural henna cones (20 g & 30 g)
I make my own all-natural henna paste — the same one I use on clients — and offer it as freshly made, ready-to-use cones in two sizes:
- 20 g medium cone — $4: perfect for a few designs or a small hands-and-feet session
- 30 g large cone — $6: ideal for bridal-size coverage, groups, or lots of practice
Every cone is freshly made and 100% natural. Buying several, or stocking up for an event? Just ask — bulk orders are welcome.
How to order
